A Sick Ordeal

29/11/2008
23:00
Baby started to wobble as he moved around his cage...

00:00
We sent baby to animal hospital for emergencies as there were no animal clinic open at night. Dr. said baby may have bacteria infection. May be infested in his liver or his brain. His right eye was rotating quite fast. Dr. couldn't be sure what's really wrong with baby... It's hard to do tests on small animals..

02:30
Finally, the vet visit was over. I was exhausted.. but I was still very much worried... there was a possibility that baby may not make it... even the slightest possibility I couldn't bear...

03:00
Started cleaning baby's cage... want him to have a clean home to recuperate...

04:30
Finish cleaning.. went to sleep hungry

30/11/2008
Fed baby medicine in the morning.. went out to get him bene bac which is good bacteria for his digestive system... this is necessary as antibiotics kill some of his good digestive bacteria... however, he had 2 dozes of antibiotics before having his bene bac... baby started developing a ball of indigested food (we like to call it "an egg") stuck in his upper digestive tract...
Baby was lethargic.

1/12/2008
Morning
The "ball" was still there.. same size, same place...

Afternoon
Made a call to the clinic to talk to the Dr. whom attended to baby...

Evening
Brought baby to the clinic... Baby gotten a jab... at night, the "egg" started to break down slowly...
Baby was energetic... Managed to hop around but a little wobbly

2/12/2008
Last few days, baby was so sticky to his buddy... Today, he rested alot...

Drinking water... his most important source of good health...

3/12/2008
His appetite for hay was back to normal... his poop was back to normal too... he's more agile.. more fiesty... and more mischievous... started peeing when we carry him... tsk tsk tsk.. no more wobbliness except when cleaning himself sometimes... still watching him closely...

Watcha doin'?

Oops!x I did it again!

Mummy's Thoughts!

It was baby's first time falling sick after 3 years. It wasn't like before... not hairball which I know what it is about... He started moving around wobbly... seems kinda lost his centre of control & balance... Went to the vet, his right pupil was bigger than his left.. Moreover, his right eye ball was rotating... The uncertainty of his condition panics me. It doesn't make sense to me why he becomes sick like that... It reminded me of Chubby... and I wasn't ready to lose him... not now... not ever.... maybe another 8 years more... pass his ripeful age...

Through every ordeal as such, I realized there was an extra bond between us. While he was unwell, I gave him my undivided attention. I be with him and showed him how much I love him. He's such a sweet baby.. when he's sick, he just want to be with us all the time.

Thanks to Chubby, I learnt to take better care of Shalom. Bunnies are fragile animals. They hide their symptoms when they are sick. It is difficult to really know when they aint feeling well, unless you know your bunny well.. and are quick to spot their unusual behaviour..

I think it was our fast reaction to his symptoms that help him... help us... help me enjoy more special moments with him.. He has a wonderful vet who checks to see how he was doing. <^_^> Baby, can't resist melting the hearts of all he met..

My dearest baby, we mean so much to me. You taught me so much! Nothing can replace my experience with you. Our special moments, I dearly cherish! I love you so much! *muacks*

I'm feeling much better now! Thanks! =D
